Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. Josh 1:8, NLT
God’s Word is powerful. It is sharper than a double-edged sword. It brings healing to the body. It brings life. It brings prosperity and success. Here’s an acronym in order not to forget these keys to success – SMO.
S – TUDY. When it is about our gifts we focus on what we are good at. When it’s about our character, we have to grow in areas that we are weak at – temper, discipline, etc. In order to change, our mind has to change first. I like how Pastor Joyce Meyer says it “where the mind goes the man follows”. We have to first have a transformed mind (Rom 12:1-2). Our minds are transformed as we study God’s Word and allow it to change the way we think and act.
M-EDITATE. Hagah (daw-gaw’) is the Hebrew word for meditate which means to mutter. So in application, we ought to always speak God’s Word. When we feel fear, we can speak out or mutter “Thank you Lord, You did not give me the spirit of fear but of power, love, and self-discipline”. We need to speak the Word out.
O-BEY. When we meditate (mutter) on God’s Word day and night we will be sure to obey it. Meditating on God’s word results in obeying it.
The results of SMO -ing God’s Word are prosperity and success.
